What do to with that Halloween candy after the big haul

Halloween may bring in some delicious sweet treats that may linger long after the big night. So be sure to tuck some in the freezer to enjoy later for snacks or add them to cookies and cakes. But for some fun in the moment treats to enjoy with the family here are some fun ideas for you to try out!


Chocolate Bar Dip for Apples

A fun idea to enjoy Halloween candy and fresh fall apples together! Serves 12.

 

1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup (60 mL) icing sugar

1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla

3/4 cup (175 mL) diced candy bars

Caramel sauce (optional)

4 large apples, cored and sliced

 

In a bowl, beat cream cheese with icing sugar and vanilla until smooth. Stir in candy bars and spread in centre of platter. Drizzle with some caramel sauce, if desired.

Place apples all around dip to serve.

 

Peanut Butter Variation: Stir in 1/4 cup (60 mL) smooth peanut butter.

 


  

Fun Family Ideas for Halloween Candy:

 

Create an easy Trail Mix by mixing up different nuts, cereal and small Halloween candy like Smarties, M&M’s, Skittles or any other favourites.

 

Mix and match Popcorn is easy made so each handful has something different in it. Add chopped candy bars, or other small candy to your next bowlful when watching a movie.

 

 








Chocolate Bar Hot Chocolate-Heat up some hot chocolate mix and milk until steaming and bubbles appear around the edge of the pot. Pour over your favourite chocolate bar and stir until melted.

 

For a mocha version, add some coffee to your cup!
