Crazy Night

So I was teaching the other night and having tons of fun with it. The food was great, the people were fun and the flow was right. So why the crazy night? Easy, I was done my class when I went to check my phone and found out I needed to go to the hospital. My son needed stitches! So I rush out and head out right away. So crazy!

Now after that ordeal, he is doing well and happy and playful as usual. My husband and I were stressed but realize he is a little boy who wants to have fun at all levels. Are we ready for it, well not sure on that one yet.

So I was thinking what would be a good way to relax? Eating of course always pops into my head first and foremost, but how about a nice drink? Tea in fact would be a good one and I recently worked on a hot tea drink that would be perfect for any occasion to relax or enjoy with friends. A true adult drink with a shot of liqueur but has all the comforts of a good cuppa.

I hope you get to enjoy a cup or two any evening, with or without excitement!

Citrus Vanilla Tea
Warm up to this cuppa while sitting by the fireplace or reading a good book. A relaxing way to start or end a cold winter day.
Makes 2 servings.

2 cups (500 mL) water
1 cinnamon stick
1 bag black tea
1 mandarin, cut in half
Quarter lemon, cut in slices
1 tbsp (15 mL) demarara sugar (or more to taste)
2 tbsp (25 mL) Navan liqueur

In small saucepan, bring water and cinnamon stick to boil. Squeeze mandarin and lemon into water and add fruit. Add tea bag and let steep for 5 minutes. Stir in sugar until dissolved.
Remove fruit and tea bag and stir in Navan. Pour into two warmed mugs. Break cinnamon stick in half and add to cups.
